The Great Depression was a colossal tragedy that placed millions of Americans out of work. After nearly a decade of prosperity, the United States was thrown into despair and on October 29, 1929, the stock market crashed. Millions were affected and prices plummeted with no hope of recovery. Panic set in as hordes of people attempted to sell their stock, but no one was buying. The stock market, which had appeared to be the surest way to get rich, quickly became the path of doom. Not long after that families were left begging for food and millions were left without work. It was a dog-eat-dog world. Today we are headed in that same direction.
